Michelle Rodino-Colocino, Ph.D., and an undergraduate research assistant interviewed Uber, Lyft, limousine, and taxi drivers in Philadelphia about key issues they share now that apps have increased the number of drivers on the road, making it harder and more time-consuming for them to earn a living. The project drew on participatory methods in order to amplify workers’ voices and efforts to organize. This work connects to her ongoing research about how digital platforms influence labor management practices.
