Pierce Salguero, Ph.D., received a grant to incorporate ethnographic fieldwork at multiple local Buddhist temples and community centers into a new course. Through interviews and audio-visual capture, students learned how each temple draws on local resources to address the health and wellness needs of its member population and mitigate against the structural and environmental barriers that these communities face. These materials contributed to a project website and the first survey of Buddhist healers and healing in any major American city.
