Resources for Immigrant Communities in the Wake of COVID-19

Shoba Sivaprasad Wadhia, Esq., and Kathleen Sexsmith, Ph.D., had originally received funds to engage law students in developing educational materials regarding immigrant worker rights in two food system sectors. They pivoted their project to focus on pressing needs in immigrant communities stemming from the pandemic.

Workers are experiencing delays in immigration benefit interviews, health and safety concerns in detention, fears about seeking medical care because of immigration status, and delays in hearings at immigration courts. The revised project involved the development of a comprehensive list of frequently asked questions (FAQ) that is being used to assist organizations working with immigrants.
