Associate Librarian, Penn State Abington

In a collaboration between the Penn State Center Philadelphia, Penn State Abington’s Center for Intercultural Leadership and Communication, and University of Pennsylvania’s School of Social Policy & Practice, undergraduate and graduate students designed lesson plans for a study guide to accompany The Loving Project podcast of interviews with interracial couples living in greater Philadelphia. The study guide includes activities and resources for teaching about multicultural and multiracial families; racism, colorism, and xenophobia; and identity awareness, intersectionality, and heritage. These activities can be incorporated into diversity, equity, and inclusion trainings as well as traditional classrooms, and the lesson plans conform to the Pennsylvania Core Standards and School District of Philadelphia curricula standards.
