The Penn State Center Philadelphia was central to launching Consortium for Social Movements and Education Research and Practice and developing a Pennsylvania-based arm of practice that develops and implements experiential curriculum for scholars, students, and community members and supports efforts to transform education policy.
This collaboration builds from the Center’s role in creating the Philadelphia Participatory Research Collective that trains Philadelphia community members in research practices in order to study education policies and offer critiques/recommendations. Since 2016, the Philadelphia Participatory Research Collective has co-designed and delivered curriculum to train Philadelphia public school stakeholders in engaging municipal education policies and practices.
